PHP Classes site tip of the day

Trackback blog post linksTrackback blog post links

The PHP Classes site can keep track of posts made in blogs or other kinds sites that post articles that contain links to the pages of classes, reviews or forum threads of this site.

This is possible thanks to a post notification protocol usually known as Trackback. Most types of blog systems support this protocol.

When a new article is published in a blog that supports the trackback protocol, it scans the article and tries to notify automatically the sites linked from the article about the new link.

The PHP Classes site is ready to capture trackback link notifications sent either via the Trackback protocol or a similar protocol name Pingback.

After a prior human supervised moderation process, the PHP Classes site lists approved trackback links in the same pages linked from the blog post article pages. The site also has a page that lists the latest trackback links.

Most of blog systems support automatic discovery of how to send a trackback notification to the sites linked from the articles that are posted. However, some blog systems require that the article authors explicitly specify the trackback URL.

If you post an article about a class, review or forum thread, in a blog or other site that supports trackbacks but does not implement automatic discovery, please use the URL that is mentioned at the top of the pages of this site near the navigation bar.
